Animal Shelter
In June of this year, the Douglas Animal Shelter was fortunate enough to be awarded an on-site assessment by Dr. Sara Pizano and her associate, Cameron Moore funded by Maddie's Millions.

Port of Entry Project
Douglas is currently being served by the Raul H. Castro Port of Entry which was constructed in 1933 and expanded in 1993. In a 2019 feasibility study conducted by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), it was determined that the Raul H. Castro Port of Entry cannot adequately meet traffic demands nor the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) mission requirements.

Community Project Funding, also known as Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS), allows members of Congress to request direct federal funding for specific local projects that benefit their communities. These requests support targeted investments in public infrastructure, public safety, health, education, and economic development, helping local governments and nonprofits meet urgent community needs that might not otherwise receive funding through traditional federal grant programs.
