Annexation Update –                                     Newly Annexed Area

The City of Douglas is pleased to announce the successful annexation of a new area into the city limits. The second reading and adoption of the annexation ordinance took place on August 13, 2025, officially bringing this area into the City of Douglas on September 12, 2025.

This annexation reflects the City’s ongoing efforts to promote orderly growth, expand municipal services, and provide residents and property owners with the benefits of being part of our community.

Letter to property owners regarding the annexation area, available services, and next steps have been mailed out.

Annexation 67 Parcels - Southeastern Portion of the Sunnyside Fire District Area

The City of Douglas is pursuing the annexation of 67 parcels located in the southeastern portion of the Sunnyside Fire District area. This initiative aims to extend city services, improve infrastructure, and enhance community development within the annexed region. By incorporating these parcels, the City of Douglas seeks to foster a stronger sense of unity and provide residents with increased access to municipal resources and opportunities.
