Jennifer Smith is a passionate Parks and Recreation professional with 15 years of dedicated service to the Douglas community. As the acting Department Director for Leisure Services, Jennifer is tasked with enhancing the quality of life for Douglas through Parks, Recreation, Special Events, Aquatics, and Cemetery. Her expertise includes leadership development, recreational programming, community outreach, special events, project management, facilities maintenance, strategic planning, and grant writing. Her most recent projects include Erubiel Durazo Field, an Arizona Diamondbacks and APS field building grant and Douglas’ first all-inclusive playground.
Jennifer’s educational background includes a Masters in Public Administration from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelors in Business Commerce from the University of Arizona, an Aquatic Facility Operator Certification, and serves as the Co-Chair of the Safety Committee.
Beyond Jennifer’s professional work life, she enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying one of Mother Nature’s best assets, the Arizona desert.
