Brenda Agular has been a public service professional for over 29 years in local government, the last 12 years as City Clerk.

She began her career in 1989 with the City of Douglas Police Department as a dispatcher. Since that time, she has served in many professional positions at various levels within the organization. In 2016 mayor and council appointed her Interim City Manager for 6 ½ months. This has afforded her a vast knowledge,experience, and understanding of the administrative functions of city government due to the diversity of these experiences.

As City Clerk she facilitates the city’s legislative process and meetings, provides access to the city’s historical records, follows an established records management program, and conducts local elections.

She has an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Cochise College. She is also a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and is currently pursuing her Masters – the highest designation you can receive as a Municipal Clerk (MMC), Certified Elections Officer, and Notary Public. The Municipal Clerks Association appointed Brenda Region 9 Leader in 2018.

Brenda is a member of the Arizona Municipal Clerks Association (AMCA) and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC)
