The City of Douglas is proposing changes to the City of Douglas Tax Code. The proposed City Tax changes includes a 0.3% increase to the City Use Tax rate from 2.5% to 2.8%, as well as the adoption of a new Sewer Tax rate of 2.8%, will tentatively be brought forward at the September 12, 2018 City Council Meeting. At the September 12, 2018 City Council meeting, Council will consider the increase to the Use Tax rate and the adoption of the new Sewer Tax rate. If approved, these changes will go into effect January 1, 2019. The proposed increase in Use Tax will affect online and out of state vendors and customers, vendors and customers who purchased out of state and used the product in the City, vendors for items used out of a business inventory for its own use and vendors and customers for vehicles purchased out of state and registered in the City. The proposed new Sewer Tax rate will affect all residential and commercial City of Douglas Sewer utility customers.
